What we do

Migrating to VCF

Migrating to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is essential to future-proof your data centre investments and keep them secure. To facilitate this migration, Spartan specialises in delivering migrations from existing VMware data centres onto the VCF platform.

This offering re-utilises the VCF design package, as required, in order to properly specify the target VCF environment for the migration. At Spartan, we understand that each migration is unique, and it is crucial to develop a tailored migration strategy for transitioning workloads to the VMware Cloud Foundation environment. Our approach prioritises workloads and ensures the security of data and applications throughout the migration process. We recognise the importance of upholding service continuity across data centers during the migration, and our strategy encompasses measures to support this.

As part of this offering, we leverage VMware’s HCX as the core product for performing the heavy-lifting in the migration process. This platform streamlines application migration, workload rebalancing, and ensures availability uptime when mobilisation occurs across data centers. By utilising HCX, we reduce the complexity of the operation due to its advanced features engineered into the product. These features include in-transit upgrades from legacy vSphere to the latest versions, migrations from non-VMware environments, maintaining IP address schemas, and data deduplication for enhanced performance.
The service includes the development of a deliverable migration plan that describes the workloads to be migrated and in what order, as well as a post-migration cutover plan that outlines the final steps to take the SDDC successfully into full operation.
